What Multani Mitti Powder is
Multani mitti is a pale clay powder used across Pakistan as a kitchen face mask. It dries on the skin and tightens as it dries. That tight feeling is the clay, not proof that pores have closed.
How people in Pakistan use it
Mix a spoon with rose water, plain water or a little yoghurt. Spread a thin layer, leave it until it is dry but not cracking for half an hour, and rinse. Once a week is plenty for dry winter skin.
Choosing a pack
100 g fills several masks. 250 g is the regular bag. 1 kg is for a family or for hair masks as well as the face. Do not buy the kilo as a first try.
A plain caution
Do not leave it on until it hurts. Skip it on broken skin and on very dry cheeks in winter, or mix it richer with a drop of almond oil. It does not lighten skin.
