What Kalonji Oil is

Kalonji oil is pressed from nigella seeds. In Pakistan it is also searched as black seed oil. The seeds themselves are a different product, sold whole, crushed or powdered.

How people in Pakistan use it

A few drops in daal, yoghurt or on bread is the ordinary use. Some households massage a diluted drop on the chest in winter. That is a home habit, not evidence that the oil treats asthma or infection. Keep the bottle dark and away from the stove.

Choosing a pack

60 ml is the tasting bottle. 250 ml is the kitchen bottle. 500 ml is for a house that uses it every day. If the smell turns like paint, it has oxidised: do not use it.

A plain caution

Food oil, not a medicine. Do not give it to infants. If you take it by the spoon every day and you are pregnant or on medication, ask your own doctor.
